Nukuvulavula Resort, Fiji Islands
The site is located on a remote location in Vanua Levu. With the remote access to the site, the aim was to build smartly and sustainably. Desalination units, solar harvesters and water tanks were placed onto the site. The building process itself had to be efficient as well and could not use too much power. The sustainable design involved shading along the north and strategic ventilation points. The topography was also extensively studied to ensure that the placement of the villas resulted in minimum impact on the surrounds.
