Holiday Inn, Suva, Fiji Islands
The Holiday Inn, Suva is a widely known and highly used Hotel located on Victoria Parade in central Suva. AAPiDesign was tasked with exercise of preforming a remodelling of their existing Restaurant & Banyan Conference Room.
The restaurant rebranded "Sirocco" has had complete renovations performed to both its services and architectural qualities. Within this space the concept of introduce natural timbers in a Modern Clean feel was aspired to by the client. This was carried out through the selection compressed bamboo flooring, natural veneer finished to the new buffet along with timber screens both as spatial dividers separating the kitchen & new live cooking areas from the dinning areas and the lobby deli/cafe area.
Selection of all furniture was carried out by both AAPiDesign and the hotel to ensure quality products that would be be suited per area. Seating in the restaurant range from bench seating and standard dining tables to high dinning areas. To keep within the clean modern feel white and creams were introduced through the furniture selection and the paint. Artwork was designed by AAPiDesign to have simple context and play off the pacific traditions without over powering the new clean space.
In the Banyan Conference room a total redesign of the space was carried out to create a modern and multipurpose set room to cater for conferences to parties. The exposed rafters and the derivative use of pacific mats was cleared with boxed in rafters and the introduction of new ceiling panels and acoustic pinboards on the walls. The colour scheme with the use of neutral tones and pacific influenced carpet allows the space to be used for any function with minimal decorative changes.
